John Mayfield, PhD

Dr. John Mayfield leads business development and partnering, with expertise in licensing, strategic transactions, and collaborations across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and diagnostics industries. John previously served as SVP, Business Development & Strategy at Flagship Pioneering, where he led BD across Flagship’s portfolio companies. Previously, he was CBO at Be Biopharma, where he built the company’s BD function and led strategic partnering efforts. John was also a founding team member of EQRx, where he served as VP, Corporate & Business Development. Earlier in his career, he held BD roles at Voyager Therapeutics and Foundation Medicine, and began his career on the development team at Illumina focused on product development leveraging genomic data. John holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida, a BS in Biology from Southeast Missouri State University, and completed postdoctoral research at Washington University and Duke University. He serves on the advisory boards for University of Florida Innovate | Accelerate, the University of Florida Biology Leadership Council, and TGen Enterprise Directed Programs.
